I was asked recently, why, as I am a complete atheist, do I see any value in Christmas, and celebrate the season regardless? Well, why should I, even though I accept the probability that there are no gods, and likely no Jesus Christ either, want to celebrate a period where so many people want to make a concerted effort to be nice to each other; to treat people with love, and respect, and why should I want to see the smiles on my children’s faces as they unwrap a gift or two? If I really have to answer that, then I don’t think that it’s my atheism that is on questionable ethical ground on this one.
May the holiday season bring peace, love, joy and prosperity to everyone, and the coming year be filled to overflowing with more of the same.
Merry secular greetings to all!!!
